HOOPFEST 2008
The biggest high school basketball event just got bigger. Wazoo Sports, Inc., has added a second HoopFest event in Laurel County, Kentucky in January of 2009. As the new promoter of HoopFest, Wazoo Sports will kick things off December 4-6, 2008, with the 13th edition of the Marshall County HoopFest in Benton, Kentucky. The Inaugural Laurel County HoopFest will be played at South Laurel High School in London, Kentucky, January 22-24, 2009. The dual events promise to be bigger and better, featuring nationally ranked teams with future All-America and All-State performers. Hardwood fans from across the nation will be treated to some of the best high school hoops action anywhere, and it will all be broadcast LIVE and ON DEMAND once again on WazooSports.com.
Nationally ranked teams and state championship contenders in girls and boys basketball will compete in both locations and combining for a total of 30 games between the two events. Once again, Oak Hill Academy (VA) tops the list of national powers at the Marshall County HoopFest, along with Los Angeles Fairfax (CA), Monteverde Academy (FL), Chicago Whitney Young (IL), St. Benedict’s (NJ), Jackson Provine (MS), Memphis White Station (TN), Wheeler (GA), Chicago Simeon (IL), Duncanville (TX), Jackson Calloway (MS), Homewood Flossmoor (IL), Briarcrest (TN) and Obion County Central (TN).
Also participating in the Marshall County Hoop Fest will be Calloway County (KY), Harrisburg (IL), Marshall County (KY), Paducah Tighlman (KY), Graves County (KY), Massac County (IL), Lexington Catholic (KY) and Madisonville North Hopkins.
Oak Hill Academy will also headline the Laurel County Hoop Fest, along with national programs Christ School (NC), New American (NY), Cincinnati Princeton (OH) and Jackson Provine (MS).
Kentucky teams participating will include host South Laurel, North Laurel, Louisville Ballard, Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park, Louisville Manual, Boone County, Marshall County, Perry County Central, McCreary County Central, Henry Clay and Warren Central.
